My introduction...

Comments

Hey i think I've seen you on one of the other boards either mineralmakeup mania or lumiere addicts? Am I right.
Hey Welcome! It's nice to see your introduction. I remember bumping into your website while googling! It's cool to know that it will be functional soon. =) I hope you'll share updates as you ride this journy through opening up your store. Good Luck! =D
Welcome to Vox and good luck with your new MMU business-sounds like fun!
Hi!Yes,I'm on the Delphi forums.I started on MMM and went from there,LOL!
Wow! That's exciting to know that I can be found already on google,LOL!! I'll be sure to update on my progress. Thanks for the well wishes.
Yeah, I forget the exact words I was searching, but it was definitely MMU related. LOL --I think that is a great sign for you. ;) I can't wait to hear all the exciting details...I love supporting small biz! You are very welcome! =)
Welcome! I am sure I have 'seen' you around, too. I can't wait to see what you are up to. From the previous replies it sounds very interesting!
Welcome! I'm new here myself. I'm currently working on having my own mmu company in the near future and I'm heading back to school in Jan to take makeup artistry. I will definately take a peak at your site and I'm looking forward to reading your future posts.
Thanks Jen! I'm pretty sure we have been at the same forum at one time or another.
Good luck Naomi! Are you planning on make your own MMU or resell? I originally went into this planning on buying wholesale but once I started sampling I couldn't find one I was happy with.I had all the supplies to make my own,so I just went from there.I really want to go to school to become a makeup artist but there aren't any around me.I don't want to go to cosmetology school because I have no desire to cut peoples hair,LOL.So,I've found a local aesthetic school but it costs $8000.
Thanks! Good luck to you too. I was thinking about both. Right now I'm sampling from a handful of lines that are already available. My two favourites right now are Meow and Silk Naturals. I just received my sample for OceanMist and I'm waiting on my order for Mod Minerals.

is it hard to mix your own makeup? Oh and where did you purchase you materials from?

I hear ya about the aesthetic school. One school that I was looking into for makeup artisty wanted $2000 per course PLUS the cost of your makeup kit!
I loved Meow and when I first started formulating I tried to make a foundation like their pampered puss, but once I started I came up with my own formulation and have to admit I really liked it better than my beloved Meow.I did a ton of research before making my own mmu and bought Coastal Scent's Ebook which helped some. The foundations are the hardest part. All the colors start to look the same after awhile,LOL.I get my supplies from TKB Trading, Coastal Scents and diycosmetics.
Hi Caramia, what ingredients do u use in your foundation and what skin type are you if you don't mind my asking?
No,I don't mind you asking at all.I use mica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, boron nitride, silica, and iron oxides.I have dehydrated skin. But i've had people testing it with all skin types.
Thnks, CM, I used boron and silica in my own mix too.
YAY! another that doesn't use kaolin clay or bismuth! =P ~my face can't wear either at all...becomes a major dryness/irritation mess.

Yep,same hear.Although I've never tried anything w/bismuth in it.My face cannot tolerate kaolin clay no matter how much is in it.

How did you like it?What type of skin do you have?
I've tried BE and Naked Minerals with bismuth and ouch! Several of the drug store MMU brands have it too. Kaolin sucks out any tiny bit of moisture I have and I end up not only hating life from the irritation of dryness, but end up looking like an old bag. lol Even with Monave's Honey Clay Cleanser I start feeling a tight, burning sensation after 1 minute...and have the butterfly face. THen tried moroccan clay mask and OMG...my face was like sand paper...took 3 days of triple applying my moisturizer 3 times a day to get my skin back to normal. So, I just stay away from all clays now. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have bismuth and I am not allergic to it but I see no purpose to put it in my foundation. My skin is oily but quite dehydrated too.It doesn't mind boron and silica. I love silica and like to add silk in my foundation too.
Moosie,You should really try moor mud. It's good for people with dry skin.I add some manuka honey, colloidal oatmeal (I get the Equate brand from Walmart) and some hydrosol. And it leaves my face so smooth afterwards and clears out my pores. As far as bismuth,my face is so sensitive so I just knew it would bother me so I stayed away.
I absolutely love silk powder! I make a primer that has silk powder in it.And it really does help w/the dryness! I had someone testing it that has oily skin and she said it helped absorb the oil.Did you find the same thing?
It's alright but I still get a shiny nose after several hrs.:)
Is Moor Mud a product I can buy?? It sounds very interesting & I like the idea of using honey, oats and hydrosol. Any specific type of hydrosol that works best? I love the idea of using a mask, but most of them contain some kind of clay...so frustrating! lol Thanks for the great tip! =D
I love silk powder too! Works like a charm for me with helping me keep every tiny bit of moisture I have locked in there & my skin doesn't dehydrate! =D I'll be trying pearl powder soon too. I've heard that it works just as good, if not better than silk powder. So, I'll soon see. =)
I buy my moor mud from GOW.Any type of hydrosol is good.I usually use rose geranium or plum (this smells so good). I use pearl powder in the summer in GOW's veggie azulene cream. But I couldn't use it once it turned cold,it was too drying for me.I want to try mixing some silk powder in my cream, but I'm getting low so it's going to have to wait till I get some more in.
I love the name of your company! It was so nice to read your introduction. I'm a mom of four too and all planned by God. ;) Looking forward to your launch.
Thanks!! I'm so excited to open my store.I haven't had any time to work on anything this work though with all 4 home. How old are your kids? We hadn't planned on having a big family,my DH had just wanted 1,LOL!! But I wouldn't change a thing now!
My children are girl 13, boy 10, boy 6, and girl 4. We thought one would be great too and now four doesn't seem all that many, but plenty at the same time.
Wow,you have 2 boys and 2 girls also!! I love having 2 of each.
